Sundays Record are a high energy, 3 piece pop/rock band from
Newcastle.
Their encapsulating stage presence, catchy melodies and spine
tingling
harmonies have received a great deal of praise from crowds and journalists alike.
The band members varied individual influences are well
represented in their live cover sets, ranging from Bon Jovi to Lady Gaga,
Michael Jackson to Matchbox 20 and The Romantics to Katy Perry.
Sundays Record have been performing together for over 6 years and during that
time have moulded themselves into an extremely versatile band. Along with the
full band line up, their stripped back intimate acoustic and solo performances
are equally as entertaining and engaging. During their 6 years together they
have achieved many accolades in the musical community.
In 2005 Sundays Record enjoyed a swag of gigs in Newcastle with many high
profile local and touring acts appearing on bills with Kid Courageous, Room 24
and James Reyne. Featuring singer/guitarist David Gretton, singer/guitarist Ben
Travis, and drummer Ben Chidgey, Sundays Record have formed a strong musical
understanding and uniqueness in their sound. Using techniques such as vocal
harmonizing and multi-melodic layering, Sundays Record create an edge in their
music that is not found in other bands.
In early 2006 the band entered the 'Channel V Launch Your Band'
competition with an entry titled Alright. The competition was judged by music
industry professionals, Channel V representatives and on-line votes. Out of
3000 entrants, Sundays Record were placed in the top 20.
2009 saw the debut of Sundays Record's E.P. Broken Not Blinded launched to a
crowd of over 300 people. Three tracks off their E.P. simultaneously held spots
in the top 20 on Triple J's Unearthed charts for consecutive weeks. More
recently Sundays Record's track 'Flashes' also off the debut E.P was nominated
as a finalist in the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards. The video clip of which
can be seen on youtube.
2010 was also a massive year for Sundays Record kicking off with a whirlwind
tour of Malaysia in March playing to a crowd of several thousand in Kuala
Lumpor.
