The Smarts

Biography

The Smarts are a real three piece band with real instruments played by real people. Not that we’ve got anything against machines. It's just that we prefer playing with people because a real drummer can give you a lift to the gig, a real bass player attracts women and a real guitar player occasionally shouts you a beer!

The Members

Pete de Jong - Guitar + Vocals  

Jim Porteus - Bass + Vocals  

Chris Lowe - drums + vocals


The short story     Pete and Jim have played together for yonks, from the heady days of national success with legendary Newie band HEROES to nightclub, pub and club favourites Django Wrango, The Cool Factor and The Heartfelt Rodneys. Lowie’s played in a string of covers and original bands including The Dodgey Brothers, The Idols, Dave Carter and Friends.


The material       A bit of of everything from the 50's to now.
