Biography

Bec Willis is one of those rare covers artists who honour the song by delivering it
recognizably and with passion, but also injects her own unique flavor making it
her own. Bec has been playing covers gigs for 15 years and has mastered the art
of knowing exactly what an audience wants – be it a rockin’ Friday night pub
crowd, a sophisticated corporate crowd or a more laid back audience.

Bec uses only acoustic guitar, voice and harmonica, yet still manages to get bodies out of their seats and on the dance floor with what Beccy Cole calls her ‘strong right hand’ – which is muso speak for a very solid guitar player. And Beccy Cole should know – Bec Willis was her right hand girl playing guitar and singing in Cole’s band for three years of Australian touring.

During this time Bec polished her ethic and sound through working with artists such as Cole herself, Adam Harvey, Troy Cassar-Daley, Bill Chambers and Kasey Chambers. Bec has appeared with these artists on the Today Show, Sunrise, Kerri-Anne Kennerly , featured in film clips and a career highlight was being invited onstage with Kasey Chamebers to sing an original song at Tamworth Festival 2009 in front of 20,000 people.

Through Beccy Cole, Willis was discovered by Kasey and Bill Chambers who offered to produced an album of Bec’s original songs. Chambers pointed Willis in the right direction with career decisions and soon after the beautifully crafted self-titled ‘Bec Willis’ debut album came out, Bec was signed to Shock Music Records and Shock Music Publishing. Bec’s ground breaking album took out the title of AIR Independent Country Album of the year 2008, and received top reviews in the top selling Australian newspaper dailies. Bec’s music has featured in several television programs through her publishing deal and she continues to write her own songs and work on a new album whilst raising a toddler and a baby.

Bec has been working with Genr8 Entertainment for 7 years and although her original music is a big passion, she loves nothing more than to crank out 40 or 50 covers songs in dynamic delivery for an appreciative audience. From classics Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, CCR and Eagles through to Lily Allen, Adele and Kings of Leon – Bec’s passion for music shines through.

Bec loves enhancing someone’s night – ‘for a good night out I believe people need two things – great company and great music..if I can provide the music part of that equation I’m happy. When I see people dancing and singing along and I know I have helped them have a fantastic night, I feel so lucky – I have the best job in the world!'.
