Chris Read

Biography

Manchester born Chris Read has spent most of his career performing live to audiences on the local scenes of his hometown in the North West of England as well as London; before moving to Australia in 2005.

Over the years Chris has worked with some great people such as: Nigel Martin-Smith (Take That), Steve Crosby (Steps, Patrizio Buane), Hyperactive Management (Liberty X, World’s Apart), and also with EMI and Sony ATV Publishing in the UK. However it is his most recent project working with IT Records/ Rhythm Safari here in Australia with 'Ultimo The Band' that Chris describes as his most exciting and promising project to date.

Ultimo recorded an album and performed live shows across NSW/ ACT with appearances on MTV’s TRL, Rove and Video Hits. Their video clip 'Tonight' also had continuous airplay on various radio and TV stations, including Sydney’s Nova 96.9, Rage and Channel V. Some notable support gigs included the likes of Peter Frampton, INXS, Screaming Jets and worldwide multi platinum selling band – Nickelback…

Now as a solo artist, what you can expect to hear at a Chris Read gig are the songs from the EP 'Last Goodbye' that is due out later this year, a couple of tracks from the Ultimo album 'Opposite Ends of The Earth' and stripped back acoustic versions of songs made famous by artists such as: Kings of Leon, Matchbox 20, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, The Beatles, Oasis, and an array of some of the best hit songs ever written, which of course include a few Australian favourites from Paul Kelly, Thirsty Merc, Dragon and Cold Chisel.
